MOTHER'S DAY

Mother, the very word brings across an image of a lovely woman in our mind, a woman who believes in selfless love for her children. She expects nothing in return, perhaps except for some love and care on their part. One thing that children often either forget to do or feel too shy to do is - say I love you to their mother.

What is a Mother?
A mother is someone to shelter and guide us,
To love us, whatever we do,
With a warm understanding and infinite patience,
And wonderful gentleness, too.
How often a mother means swift reassurance
In soothing our small, childish fears,
How tenderly mothers watch over their children
And treasure them all through the years!
The heart of a mother is full of forgiveness
For any mistake, big or small,
And generous always in helping her family
Whose needs she has placed above all.
A mother can utter a word of compassion
And make all our cares fall away,
She can brighten a home with the sound of her laughter
And make life delightful and gay.
A mother possesses incredible wisdom
And wonderful insight and skill -
In each human heart is that one special corner
Which only a mother can fill!

MELA AT JUW

Jinnah University for Women arranged grand festival MELA for students on  26th March 2011,Saturday which took place from 9 a.m to 5 p.m.That was a harsh sunny day but when friends are together and there is an event like Mela then there is a great fun no matter how harsh the day is.

After a long schedule of studies it is a break for enjoyment and students need this type of break. So,it's a gift for students after their hard work for mid terms.Students wearing colourfull dresses and having smiles on their faces.Different colours were scattered in the JUW.the atmosphere of JUW was totally different as compare to regular bases.

The Mela was filled with different stalls of eatables, games, show pieces, mehndi, cosmetics, jewelery, face paintings, dresses, books, bed sheets etc.the most important thing there was a DJ because of that the whole atmosphere became musical.Couple of girls start dancing and it sounds really cool...

MPA Sindh Faisal Sabzwari and Raza Haroon were also visited the JUW Mela. They visited every stall and appreciate the nice efforts of students.Further, they suggested the organiser to arrange these kinds of events for students in the future too.

The big advantage of this Mela for students is that they can went outside the university at any time. There were no restrictions regarding to gate timings. Therefore, students take benefit of it and did fully enjoy.Mostly girls leave the university with their friends and arrived at Dolmen Mall,Hyderi to have more fun and make the day more memorable. As,I also leave the Mela at 2 p.m with my friends to have more blast. At that day the Dolmen Mall was majority full of  JUWrian girls.

MID TERMS FEVER

At the time of mid terms the scenario of Jinnah University for Women totally changed.Students were suffering from the fever of mid terms. All the interesting and funny topics had been switched off and only 1 topic was highlighted that was "MID TERMS".Suddenly, girls found with books, notes and they move towards library. The problem faced by the girls was the shortage of books in the main library. Our reporter ask to the librarian about the issue she answered "books are limited and there are a lot of students."Infact,in JUW there is a library which is based on 3 flours and plus every department having it's own seminar library too but as there is a wide range of students so the problem is still unsolved and at the time of exams the problem became more prominent.Students hope that the problem resolved soon by the new chancellor.

CITIZEN JOURNALISM

Citizen Journalism is when private individuals to essentially what professional reporters do _report information. That information can take many forms, from a podcast editorial to a report about a city council meeting on a blog.It can include text, picture, audio and video. But it's basically all about communicating information of some kind.

On sat,29th Jan 2011, producer of  “State of Sharia” and “Wired and Active” in the Dawn News Channel Mr. Owais Mungalwala visited Jinnah University for Women to convey a lecture on CITIZEN JOURNALISM.He is working with Dawn News Channel since 2007 and is currently producing and anchoring the new show "Meri Khaber" related to Citizen Journalism.During his lecture he highlighted the concepts of Citizen Journalism. He stated that "the people who are audience they used the tool of journalism".Citizen Journalism is like to convey your own thoughts, ideas and views to the world...

He also added that a citizen journalism gives people four things. These are:
  1. sharing of experience
  2. sharing of opinion
  3. sharing of discovery
  4. sharing of experty
Furthermore,he added that if a person has any idea in his/her mind then make a report on it and then send that report to Dawn News Channel. If channel selected his/her topic then appoint their reporters to work on that report with the selected person.

he added that if a person is making a report then there are some important key points.following are the key points illustrated by him:
  • authenticity
  • report about any event whether it is big or small and don't wait for the grand event
  • your point of view
  • don't ever think that your topic is boring
  • be descriptive but not exagrate
  • accuracy
  • avoid grammatical mistakes and spelling mistakes
  • avoid plagiarism
  • code of conduct
  • find reporters and take help guidance from them
  • feedback
  • always keep your eye open

He added that every single person can be reporter by following these key points. Finally the lecture is ended and after him Miss Humera, the lecturer of Mass Communication department boots thanks to Mr. Mungalawala for introducing this new idea of reporting. She also added that we call him again to share more interesting thoughts and things with him.

In the end of the lecture another member of dawn news channel take feedback on their newly started morning show "Mast Morning with Maira" by showing video clips.A lot of Mass Communication girls attend the lecture and enjoy it too..The whole lecture is very interesting and informative and we are now aware of what Citizen Journalism actually is..
